What is the E-Collar Heel?

Posted on April 29, 2022May 1, 2022 Kimee

Every once in a while, I find a space that’s safe enough to let my personal dogs off-leash for a structured walk. I put away the leashes and walk through trails or parks or beaches, with my dogs still in a heel at my side or slightly behind me. It’s

Posted on April 28, 2022May 10, 2022 Kimee

I started training dogs professionally years ago, when I was still living in a small apartment in the greater Seattle area. It was my first apartment of my own, and while I was proud of it in some ways, it did have its limitations when it came to my options

How to Undo Bad Shock Collar Training

Posted on April 23, 2022April 23, 2022 Kimee

A lot of dog owners come in hesitant to make use of a quality remote collar because of poor experiences with generic shock collars, bark collars, and underground fences. While not universally unhelpful, the fact of the matter is that shock collars and perimeter collars can do more harm than

I always say that keeping a dog motivated is the name of the game in dog training. But what about the handler, or the dog owner? A lot of dog owners set off on a journey to grow together with their dog, intent on training their dogs all by themselves.

Train a Dog to Sit

Posted on February 21, 2022February 23, 2022 Kimee

A focused sit is an incredibly valuable behavior for a dog to have. A dog that can sit and watch their handler is a dog that isn’t up to nonsense in public. And while teaching a dog to sit will not fix unwanted behaviors on its own, it can give

A Message from the Trainer

dog trainers washington state

In early days just starting out in dog training, I used to provide my clients with printed writeups to help support them during and after training. Now, I’ve taken that material and put together this blog in its place, as one of our free resources to support not just our clients but also struggling dog owners everywhere. Here you will find information on dog training, pet care, canine health, nutrition, and conditioning, and even glimpses into the “behind the scenes” of our hands-on training. It is my hope that you will always be able to refer to this page to learn whatever it is you may need to know to empower you on your journey as leader of your life and of your dogs.
